MAC Makeover

Welcome to my 200th blog post!! Ahh, how exciting!! For today's post, I have makeup done on me, by someone else for a change. That's pretty fun for the 200th post. While I was at MAC the other day picking up the Fleet Fast blush (you can see here), the MUA was telling me how they were having a launch party this weekend for the Hey Sailor! collection. She said they were doing a bunch of makeovers, and were taking appointments. She asked if I was interested, and you bet your last dollar I was! I called mom to come on over and hold down the fort, and off I went this evening. It was so much fun having someone else come up with a look for me. I told her I was a pretty experimental person, so she could do whatever she pleased. She used a lot of products from the new Hey Sailor! collection, so I will post pictures below of the products (they are promo pics, and all photo credit goes to MAC). Unfortunately, by the time I got home at about 8 pm, most of the good lighting was gone for pictures. Please excuse the fact I had to boost the color a bit.

My Look: Easy Breezy

I used my Urban Decay 15th Anniversary palette for this super easy, quick look. If you want to see how I did it, keep reading! Also, side note: this is my hair in it's natural state. After showering, I towel dry for a few minutes. I then apply some mousse, and blow dry my hair upside down with a diffuser.

Blush & Lipstick Haul

I think it's no secret by now that I am a blush hoarder. I just love blush, I can't help it. I have been lusting after the Tarte blush in Exposed for about forever now, so I picked that up a few days ago. I have a couple NYX blushes I also picked up recently, and my very first MAC blush. I am obsessed with the thought of MAC blushes right now. I don't want anything else, just MAC blushes. Yes, I have issues, I understand this ;)

I also picked up a couple more of the Wet n Wild MegaLast lipsticks because I found them on clearance at Meijer for only 49 cents! I couldn't believe it, I couldn't pass it up.

On to pics and swatches!

My Look: Summer Days

Been doing a lot of makeup related things the last couple of days. I have a new project I want to undertake for the blog, so I spent a good chunk of time taking TONS of notes yesterday. Yes, I am a note taking nerd. Also reorganized the collection a little bit, and made this big college that I saw on Pinterest. I also ran to Sephora and got some samples of Smashbox BB Cream, and Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Today the babies and I got out of the house, went to lunch and ran to Ulta. At Ulta I picked up NYX's blush in Peach, and the Tarte Amazonian Clay blush in Exposed. I've been wanting it for a REALLY long time. I figure since I'm pretty much done working, it's now or never. I'll let you know how I enjoy all these things.

Make A "Spectacle" of Yourself

As you may, or may not know, I am an eyeglass wearer. I noticed after I had my second baby that my vision just wasn't what it used to be (amazing how having babies changes your body!). The problem for me with glasses is this: THEY ARE SO EXPENSIVE! I try to pick the cheapest pair I can, and I still walk out of the store at least $150 in the hole. Jeez!

You know me, I love to find a deal. I love deals on makeup, clothes, toys, food, you name it. Finding a deal on cheap glasses is exactly what I needed, and along came GlassesUSA.com !

GlassesUSA is a great site for a number of reasons. They have prescription eyeglasses starting at just $38, lenses included! Want a name brand pair? They have 'em! They have brands such as: Coach, Kenneth Cole, Nike, Lucky Brand, etc. GlassesUSA also has an awesome Refer-A-Friend program. If you sign up for it, they will give you a custom link to share on your Facebook. Every friend who orders their first pair of spectacles through your link, will earn you $30 in credit.

I also love their new Virtual Mirror program. The Virtual Mirror allows you to try on any pair of glasses on the site, from the comfort of your couch. Here is me playing around with it:

Here are a couple pairs that really piqued my interest, as you can see the Coach pair is only $131. That's less than the last pair of cheap-o's I got.

So what are you waiting for? GlassesUSA has a 100% Satisfaction guarantee, and offers free shipping on all orders. All you need to do is get your eyeglasses prescription from your eye doctor, and pick the pair you love!

I have a couple of discount codes just for you, my readers!

Take 50% off any pair of prescription eyeglasses/ sunglasses frames, plus free shipping.

My Look: Simple & Polished

Not much to say here today. We had a busy weekend, we had a birthday party on Saturday for the 2 little boys. We spent yesterday recuperating, and it was back to work today. For today's look I incorporated a bunch of my new Hot Pots from Coastal Scents. Enjoy!

Swatchfest: NYX - Secret World

Hi loves! Today I have another of the NYX Runway Collection palettes for your viewing pleasure. Out of the 3 I own, this one is my favorite. I used this palette the other day in a look, which you can see HERE. Like I stated in my previous post (here), I bought this at Ulta for 40% off, making it about $6.50. These palettes are normally $11, but you can get them at Cherry Culture for $8.50. As a side note, Cherry Culture has the full line of these palettes, where as Ulta only carries about 4.
Enjoy!

Coastal Scents Hot Pots - Info & Swatches

Hello lovelies! How are you all doing today?
About a week ago I placed an order on the Coastal Scents website, and I wanted to share with you all what I got. I was very interested in the Hot Pots, but couldn't find a whole lot of swatches, so hopefully this post is helpful to those of you who are also interested in these eyeshadows.
Hot Pots are the same size as a MAC eyeshadow, 1 inch. They cost $1.99 each, but some are clearanced at $1.49. The pigmentation and texture of these eyeshadows is AWESOME. They are so soft, silky and creamy. Not at all chalky, or hard to blend. I believe there are 166 (or maybe 116?) shades to choose from, so whatever you are looking for, they probably have it. I love that there is such a variety of matte shades, as that can be hard to find sometimes. Coastal Scents always has a deal going on that states if you purchase 12 Hot Pots, you can get a 12 pot palette for free. I found that to be a deal I couldn't pass up (where else would I put them? lol) The palettes are a little smaller than a MAC palette, as MAC palettes hold 15 shades. The palettes are a nice matte black, with a huge mirror inside, which is nice for traveling.
All the shades now have names on the website, but on the actual pan they are still labeled with a letter/number system. (Except new shades, which just have the name) What do the letters mean??

M - Matte
S - Satin/ Shimmer
B - Blush
CM - Creative Me shade
ME - Metallic/ Foil

All my palettes are custom palettes, they do not come this way, this is just they way I set them up.
On to the shades I chose, and the swatches!

Taupe & Blue: Pinterest Inspired Look

For today's look I have another Pinterest inspiration look. I've been looking at this picture in my board for about a month now, but didn't have the right color blue eyeliner to pull it off. Thanks to Ulta and their sales and coupons, I picked one up for about $1.37 yesterday. Score!!

My Look: To Wong Foo....

If you follow me on Twitter (@AmandaKD678) you may have seen my tweet earlier about how sometimes my makeup just comes out as 'bad drag queen'. It just happens. I forget the "less is more" rule sometimes. One of the movies I love is "To Wong Foo...", which is the drag queen movie starring Patrick Swayze & Wesley Snipes. Hence the name of my post. I feel like John Leguizamo's charater from that movie today LOL.

My Look: Plum Party

What's new lovelies? I've been so busy the last couple days. We have a birthday party coming up next weekend, so it was time to finish up spring cleaning. I've been cleaning the garage, and shampooing the carpets. Today we got our brand new furniture. This is the first time in my entire life that I've gotten a new piece of furniture, and it's pretty exciting! We have a grown up's living room now, lol!

For today's look I used some new goodies I received in the mail yesterday. I will post about them maybe some time next week. I want to give myself more than one day before really giving any type of opinion on them. I will tell you that they are from Coastal Scents though ;)

Hard Candy Sheer Envy primer
Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation

My Look: Coral Obsessed

Get ready for another coral eye look today. I am so obsessed with peach and coral right now. It started with the blushes, which you can see here, and it's now moving on to eyeshadow. I guess that is just going to be my color this warmer weather season.

Swatchfest: NYX - Caviar & Bubbles

I don't have much to say here today, this post is pretty self explanatory. I purchased some of these NYX 10 Color Eyeshadow palettes at Ulta for 40% off last month, and thought you'd like to see some pictures and swatches. These are normally $10.99 at Ulta (I think I paid $6.49), but you can find them cheaper online. CherryCulture.com has them for $8.50, and they also have more color selections. I will note however that this palette was previously named 'Champagne & Caviar', so if you see it named that online, they are one and the same. This is a decent palette, but I feel some colors are too much alike. I have traveled with palette, and it worked out great. If you are looking for a less expensive neutral type palette, I think this one is not bad at all.
 Enjoy!

Today I didn't even think to take pictures until about 6:30 in the evening. I'd already had my makeup on since 10 am, been out and about, in the rain. So I don't look as fresh and "sweet" as I did this morning LOL.  Eh, it happens. I stopped at the MAC counter this afternoon and picked up the eye shadow 'Paradisco', which is an awesome coral color.
